To the Editor,
Now, I don't normally consider myself to be religious, but if there's something I just cannot stand for, it's discrimination - including religious discrimination.
On Sunday, October 15th, I awoke to find more than a dozen fliers posted by Campus Ministry proclaiming "Got God?" and promoting the regular Sunday Mass defaced throughout Midrise.
Whereas a couple of scheming delinquents had the tact to rip out "God" and replace it with "Satan," other less artful vandals just tore the fliers from their respective spots and shredded them to pieces.
Personally, as a self-identified agnostic that feels God has abandoned us, I am saddened and deeply disappointed by this childish behavior.
Even though Campus Ministry hasn't always had the best public relations, asking if the Marist community has "Got God?" and then promotes only the Catholic-conception of it, as signified by the Chapel's crucifix, this needs to stop.
Unless it's a member of the College Activities Office that approved the fliers or a Campus Ministry representative, nobody - absolutely nobody - has the right to deface the property of another club or organization on campus. I encourage anybody witnessing these incidents to report them to a Resident Advisor or on-duty Security Guard.
This isn't just reprehensible - it's amoral.
