For their efforts, both the men's and women's team were recognized by collegeswimming.com final Mid-Major poll. The men's team finished ranked 21st, while the women's team was ranked 25th.
Key Losses:
In order for both teams to defend their MAAC titles and their preseason number one ranking in the MAAC polls, the Red Foxes will have to rebuild from some key losses.
Joe Pilewski will be sorely missed by the men's team for his versatility. Pilewski holds the records for the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, and was a member of the 200 Medley Relay team.
Coach Van Wagner will look to junior Greg Jablonski to fill the void left by Pilewski.
"Greg is a very versatile athlete, just like Joe was," Van Wagner said. "Greg has a lot of talent since he is able to swim the breaststroke, individual medley, and the team medley as well."
Pilewski finished in second place in the 200-yard breaststroke, 400-yard individual medley, and the 200-yard medley relay at the MAAC Championships.
On the women's side, the Red Foxes will look to replace Meghan Duffy, who was named MAAC diver of the year the previous two seasons.
Junior Melissa Mangona, who placed second to Duffy in the one and three-meter competition at the MAAC Championships, will get her turn to shine in Duffy's absence.
Mangona has shown her potential in the past as a freshman at Marist. During her rookie year, Mangona qualified for the NCAA Zone A Regional Championships, as well as taking home silver medals in the one and three-meter competitions at the MAAC.
The Red Foxes will start their 24 week competitive season this Friday as they host Army and Syracuse University in the Red Fox Invitational at 3 p.m.
