letter to the editor: Athletic Director announces new Spirit Committee to students

Marist Students,
On behalf of the entire Athletics Department, I want to personally thank you for your support at the game on Friday night! Unfortunately the outcome was not what we wanted, but the atmosphere was incredible. We had a sell-out crowd, with close to 1,000 students packing the McCann Center!
I want to thank all of you for answering the challenge sent out in last week's edition of The Circle by Men's Basketball Coach, Matt Brady. I received many compliments on the student's creativity after Friday night's game from our fans in the community. They loved the passion and cleverness that you demonstrated throughout the game. It showed that Marist students can support the team with class. We have the best fans in the MAAC!
We have five huge home games reaming on our schedule, including a battle on Saturday with Loyola, who is currently first in the MAAC. We also have match-ups with Fairfield, Manhattan, Colgate (BracketBusters opponent) and Siena on Senior Day televised nationally on ESPN2.
As the men's basketball team continues to receive tremendous support from our students, we want to encourage all of you to come out and support our women's basketball team. They are currently undefeated in the MAAC at 10-0 and are 17-4 overall. They have three home games remaining with match-ups against Canisius, Rider and Fairfield on Senior Day.
