Starting five games so far this season, Fitz has put up impressive numbers, playing an average of 22.1 minutes per game, scoring 13.6 points per game, and grabbing six rebounds per game. Her stats are impressive so far, but there are a few things that Fitz wants to work on as a player.
"I think I need to work on my post moves more and playing better defense more than anything," she said.
Whether Fitz needs to work on defense more or not, the Red Foxes have allowed an opponent to score 60 points or more only 4 times this season, an impressive statistic for any team.
Coming into the season Fitz had high expectations about herself and how she thought the team would do with her addition to the lineup.
"I knew that we would be a good team and wanted to be the best player I could be," she said. "I want to accomplish as much as I can and help the team out a lot. I really believe that we can win the MAAC every year and finally get a win in the NCAA tournament."
The team is leading the MAAC and playing very impressive basketball. Last season the Red Foxes made the tournament, but were met with a rude awakening when they were shut down by Georgia 75-60 in the opening round. The addition of Fitz will hopefully take this team to the next step.
There is still more of the season to play and many more things that have to pan out, but so far Fitz is very pleased with how her college career is going.
"I'm glad to this point," Fitz said. "I'm very happy with how I have been playing and the rookie of the week awards I have received. I love my teammates and am pleased with how this season has gone so far."
With such an impressive track record and all of her awards, it would only make sense that Fitz dreams about playing in the WNBA right? Well, not as much as you would think.
"I'm not sure if I am going to continue playing basketball once I graduate from Marist," she said. "I want to accomplish more awards in college and help our team win as much as I can, but I really don't think basketball will be my next step once I graduate."
