This past week was full of solid performances by the Marist Red Foxes women's track and cross country at The St. Valentine Invitation, in Boston, Mass. The meet was led by the performances of senior captain Caitlin Garrity, whose personal best time of 18:38:62, in the 5,000 meter heat gave her second place. Senior Lisa D'Aniello was second in a 3,000 meter heat, with another personal best of 10:28.58, and freshman Sarah Parsloe captured first place in her 3,000 meter heat with a personal best time of 10:50.30.
Other solid efforts were seen by sophomore Holly Burns, who ran a 7.67 55m and 26.49 200m. Freshman Kim Ladouceur ran the 55 meter in 7.94 seconds and the 200 meter in 27.22 seconds.
Justine Colobraro had a pole vault of 2.75 meters, and in the mile, junior Laura Reilly, freshman Julie Hudak, and senior Lindsay Rappleyea ran 5:22.36, 5:24.37 and 5:24.87, respectively. Hudak also had a 2:22.84 effort in the 800.
The season has been solid throughout. Recently, the Marist women's track distance medley relay team, led by senior Lisa D'Aniello, sophomore Holly Burns, senior captain Chris Wahl and sophomore Brittany Burns, placed first at the Metropolitan Championships, held at the Armory Track and Field Center. The Red Foxes continue to demonstrate their dominance in the winter months.
Coach Phil Kelly has led the team to a commanding start this season, with strong efforts at Fordham in early Dec. to start off the season, and continuing success at the Gotham Cup, Terrier Classic, and the ECAC Meet. These tournaments have led to personal bests and some record breaking efforts by this strong Red Fox team.
The next meet for the women will be on Friday, Feb. 22nd at 6 p.m. in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championship hosted by New York City's New Balance T&F Center.
