As fall approaches, students on the Marist College campus are changing their style with the season.

Several students, specifically in the Marist fashion department, shared what they are wearing this fall. From basic black and white v-neck tops and Levi jeans to maxi denim skirts, here are what some students are wearing.

“I am about everything being chunky this fall, from boots to oversized sweaters and trench coats to jewelry,” said Elizabeth Reardon ‘26. “Another trend I am into this fall is pops of reds. If it’s with a deep red lip or burgundy bag, this can elevate an outfit easily and embrace the chiller season.”

The minimalistic and classy lifestyle has taken over social media, encouraging viewers to copy those looks. “I wear a lot of neutral colors, but I will add a pop of color, too,” said Samantha Swidler ‘26.

Wearing a “basic” outfit, like a t-shirt and jeans, with unique accessories like chunky black boots, jewelry, sunglasses, purses or hairstyles can elevate an outfit to fit the classy lifestyle look.

Influencers like Matilda Djerf and Sofia Richie encapsulate a luxurious feminine lifestyle that many want to achieve with fashion. “I love her clean, classy, and minimalist aesthetic,” said Alyssa Ostrowski ‘26, “I love pulling inspiration from Instagram in my outfits.”

Shopping sustainable is also becoming more relevant this fall after the talk about fast fashion brands not making their clothes ethically.

“I try to thrift or shop on Depop as much as I can because it is sustainable; it also makes my style more individual, and I find more unique pieces,” said Julia Brown ‘26.

“I think I tend to collect a lot of timeless pieces, but I also love putting my own personal touch into my outfits to make my closet more individualized,” says Ostrowski.
