Marist College is commonly regarded as one of the best fashion schools in the country. It provides its students with many opportunities to get involved in the industry and gain hands-on experience, a main reason why Marist was ranked #11 in the U.S. and #22 globally by Business of Fashion

Throughout the year, students and faculty work diligently to plan different events and craft unique publications to create a buzz throughout the campus. These include the annual Silver Needle Runway (SNR) fashion show, Measure Magazine, and recently, a podcast titled “Measure Unmuted.”

Measure Magazine is a student-run publication that discusses current fashion and culture in our society and how those impact life on campus and the world around us. Each issue is themed differently and conveys an important message. This year, the board of directors and e-board decided on synergy.

General Manager Ashley Casucci ’23 and Branding Director Olivia Murphy ’23 said the team worked together diligently to plan the magazine and decide on a final theme. They felt synergy was the best possible representation of what the team wanted for the magazine, saying it would display a feeling of energy, motion, unity and playful togetherness that they were all yearning for.

Cassuci and Murphy said, “The team working on [this volume] of Measure put in tremendous effort and creativity to bring the magazine to life. Creating the concept of ‘synergy’ required flexibility, an open-minded approach, research, organization and attention to detail.”

Amanda Dibre ’23, editorial member, said, “Being part of the editorial team for Measure Magazine, I have helped to generate ideas for the print issue. I’m so excited to have my first article printed in the latest issue of the magazine. Measure is a really interactive and hands-on class.”

The world of technology and communication is constantly evolving. Therefore, the Measure team had to take a creative approach to stay current and relevant. To address this challenge, they worked on adding a variety of new content to their portfolio, including a promotional video, podcast, and new website.

Additionally, they are creating a documentary to provide an in-depth look at the fashion magazine production class from a unique student perspective. They have also built their social media presence by creating compelling content and building a following across multiple platforms.

When asked about what they were most proud of, Cassuci and Murphy said they were most proud of the team who helped put the project together.

“The Measure 2023 team is a talented, creative and driven group of individuals who came together to bring our ideas to life in the most remarkable way possible,” said Cassuci and Murphy.

Measure Magazine is a staple of the Marist fashion program and is a great opportunity for students to get involved. The Measure team hopes to expand its podcast and social media presence in order to stay relevant in our fast-paced media landscape. The editorial team has identified the podcast format as an excellent way to engage with audiences and provide them with content in a convenient and accessible way.
