Third Extension of Campus Pause to End Monday

The college extended the campus-wide pause for a third time on Thursday, one week after it initially began. The medical team tested over 2,000 Marist community members in seven days, and 89 cases of COVID-19 are currently active.

Despite the pause’s extension, the college’s vice presidents said they “believe we are on track to lift the pause on Monday, November 16,” per an email to the Marist community.”

“Of course, our final decision will be based on the results of our remaining testing and tracing efforts. We expect to be able to confirm this plan or notify the community otherwise by Sunday, November 15 at the latest,” the email added.

The Vice Presidents reminded community members of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s updated COVID-19 regulations, implementing a 10 p.m. curfew for many businesses and restricting gatherings at private residences. In addition, the college shared a testimonial from Commissioner of Behavioral and Community Health Dr. Anil Vaidian that asserted the county is “not seeing a spillover into the general community” from the recent spike in cases at Marist.
