Prorated Refunds of Room, Board and Fees Subject for Board Approval This Week

Marist students and families will soon receive a prorated reimbursement for room, board and fees, following the March 16 decision that their semesters would move online amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

“We have a draft of the policy and it does include returning the room, board and fees on a prorated basis to the students,” President Dennis Murray said Monday morning.

The College’s adjustment policy is now subject for approval by the Board of Trustees, and will likely be decided this week.

“The Executive Committee of the Board will have a call on Wednesday morning, and if they approve it, we will start the process,” President Murray said.

The costs will be reimbursed on a prorated basis, meaning that all expenses will be proportionally accounted for in relation to how much time students spent on-campus this semester. All students that remained on-campus during the extended spring break period were instructed to leave residential housing by March 27.
