Marist College is removing nearly all of it COVID-related restrictions as the threat of the pandemic continues to decline, effective March 31, 2022.

Marist will no longer conduct COVID contact tracing or monitor quarantine and isolation, according to Vice President for Student Affairs Deb DiCaprio. Employees will no longer be required to take the daily health survey, and guests will not be asked to fill out a health attestation. The ‘red asterisk’ system will only be used for judicial matters and no longer towards COVID compliance.

“We are happy to report that, because of these measures and the low positivity rates in the region and New York State, we will be making important adjustments to our COVID-19 operating protocols for the remainder of the semester,” said DiCaprio.

As of March 30, Marist reports one active case on their COVID dashboard. Marist has been on alert level green since Feb. 18. Dutchess County is seeing an average of 23 new cases per day as of March 31, per The New York Times.

DiCaprio did state that “Marist will continue to require that all students, faculty and staff stay ‘up-to-date’ with their COVID-19 vaccine, as defined by the CDC. As the possibility of a second booster shot begins to materialize, Marist community members will have to be aware of the requirements.”

While almost all of Marist’s policies have been relaxed, DiCaprio reminds students and faculty to monitor their own health and stay home when feeling sick.
