Despite the last-minute curveball, the show must go on.
After the anticipated spring concert headliner, NLE Choppa, announced that he’d be canceling his performance due to “extreme exhaustion and dehydration,” Marist University’s Student Programming Council quickly secured a new artist to occupy the stage: A$AP Ferg.
Marist SPC has worked under immense pressure to lock in a new headliner that would satisfy the eager fans and comply under such circumstances. So, singer and rapper A$AP Ferg is set to hit the stage with his most commonly known songs, “Plain Jane,” and “Dreams, Fairytales, Fantasies.”
“While we know this news may be unexpected, we support [NLE Choppa’s] well-being and appreciate his efforts to prioritize his health,” reads the Instagram post by Marist SPC.
Though this is disappointing news for the Marist community, this isn’t the only concert NLE Choppa has canceled due to his health.
On April 2, Vanderbilt University announced that the rapper had canceled his performance at their Rites of Spring event. However, with other artists still set to perform, their announcement stated that they would not issue refunds.
On the contrary, Marist SPC is offering a refund to those who no longer wish to attend the concert, which many have made clear in the comment section of their recent posts.
Marist SPC also announced the special guest opening the concert: Laundry Day. The band was formed in 2018 by four high school students at Beacon High School in Manhattan. Now, they’ll be performing not far away in Poughkeepsie.
Comments under Marist SPC’s recent posts regarding the updates on the concert reflect mixed reactions from students across campus.
