SPC’s Trivia Thursdays off to a Hot Start!

The Student Programming Council’s Trivia Thursdays are off to an uproariously successful start.
The semester-long program features a different theme every week, with decorations, snacks and prizes to match. The Sept. 10 theme was “Around the World.” The Cabaret was vibrantly decorated with pennant strings of various countries’ flags hanging all across the room.
Cupcakes, crackers and soda adorned the snack table and all the hits of the 2000s played through a speaker.
Trivia Thursdays will be held every Thursday until Dec. 3, with the exceptions of Oct. 15 for Fall Recess and Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving. The full schedule is displayed on flyers all over campus, as well as on the easel outside the Cabaret, where all Trivia Thursdays are held.
Trivia Thursdays are a great way to exercise your mind, show off your knowledge and win themed prizes such as vinyl records, dorm decor and even sports equipment, all while having fun with your friends.
“This was my first time attending Trivia Thursday. My friends and I love geography and the world, so it was a great opportunity to put our knowledge to the test,” said Alice Adams ‘27 of the Spud Buds, the Sept. 10 winners, “The environment had great energy, and it was overall well put together. I’m excited to attend again in the future.”
Prizes will be given to winners at the end of each month , and the SPC is inquiring among attendees about what prizes Marist students would like to see.
Keira Thornton, ‘27, a member of the SPC, told the Circle that all themes and decorations are decided in advance and only minor tweaks occur week-to-week. The only other weekly matter is coordinating with caterers.
Trivia Thursdays are not the SPC’s only event this semester — its Signature Events program also includes Bingo nights and Learn Something New. The schedules for these are posted alongside the Trivia schedule on the easel outside Cabaret.
So, next time you want to test your knowledge, make your way down to the Cabaret on Thursday nights for Marist’s legendary trivia night. You may just walk out standing a little taller — with prizes and bragging rights alike.
