A Look Inside a New Marist Staple: The Yard
The Yard is a recently added outdoor dining and patio area outside of Steel Plant; hear what fellow students think about the food and discover what the area has to offer.
Marist University welcomed a new dining option at Steel Plant. The Yard features food locations such as Press, an American food truck offering all of the mouthwatering classics, making it the new talk of the town.
From its classic hand-cut fries tossed in salt to its barbecue-flavored Smokestack, Press’s assortment of loaded fries transcends the game. If you’re not into fries, not to worry, there are many other delicious rabbit holes to go down. For instance, its boneless chicken wings, designer grilled cheeses and its distinct MMMMPorium chocolate chip cookie will be sure to have you floored. Press also offers two combos, the Fox Fuel and Fox Feast.
The Fox Feast includes six-piece boneless wings, your choice of dipping sauces and a beverage for $14.
Anna Driscoll ‘30 rated her overall experience a seven out of 10.
“The fries were amazing,” Driscoll said.
Driscoll enjoyed the food options and the ambiance of the area and said that she would definitely hang out at The Yard with her friends again in the future.
Fox Fuel includes a grilled cheese, fries and a beverage of your choosing.
Not only are their food options creative, but so are their names. All names are associated with places known by the Marist community, like the Route 9 fries.
This new area on campus offers much more than their delicious food; it also offers an ideal outdoor place to relax, eat and study. With cozy outdoor chairs, couches and awnings to keep you dry, The Yard patio is a new staple on campus where students can enjoy the fresh air, hang out with friends or just get some homework done.
The patio also provides fire pits, where students can warm up on brisk autumn nights, along with string lights that create a comfortable vibe and warmly illuminate the area. The food truck is just another perk of everything this new structure on campus has to offer.
Some students on campus, who have already tried the food at The Yard, enjoy the grilled cheese options, most notably The Italian Connection, which includes tomato, provolone and flavorful broccoli rabe.
“The flavors have a unique spin,” Mia Kantowitz ‘30 said. “It’s so nice as a fashion major to have a [food truck] right by Steel Plant.”
Kantowitz also agreed that the fire pit at The Yard is such an amazing place to hang out with friends.
